LOMPOC, CA — After a decade of collaboration, Steve Franck, John Linn, Bob Allen, and Rudi Tuisk are thrilled to announce a major milestone for Space Base California™. With nearly 2,800 signatures gathered and the successful passage of Measure R2024, Lompoc voters have paved the way for a space-themed educational center just south of Vandenberg Space Force Base. Backed by a dedicated team and strong community support, this visionary project moves closer to becoming a reality.
Spanning 82 acres, Space Base California™ has been designed to engage space professionals, young enthusiasts, and families with immersive education programs, live rocket launch viewings, and engaging interactive experiences. While the project sponsor Pale Blue Dot Ventures (PBDV) still needs to fulfill California entitlement requirements, significant progress has already been made.
In collaboration with local leaders and educators, our mission is to build a pipeline of diverse talent for the space industry, addressing the projected need for 50,000 to 150,000 new professionals over the next 20 years. Space Base California™ will offer STEM education, certification programs, and incubators, creating 400-500 full-time jobs, driving local workforce development.
We extend special thanks to local business leaders, educators, and space industry professionals—especially those in Northern Santa Barbara County and at Vandenberg Space Force Base—whose insights have been invaluable. We believe Space Base California™ is poised to inspire families, spark curiosity in young minds, and unite a global fan base, setting the stage for the future of space exploration.
